Please no. That would instantly give control of the government to Americans since the entire population of Canada is around the same as California alone. They can secede and be their own thing, but they’re not joining Canada.

In all honesty with all the red hate for blue states I’m hella over helping them. It’s like being in an abusive relationship and our leadership just rolls over and takes it.

We should demand concessions to keep sending these welfare queens our money.

Agreed though most of it comes from the increased federalism centralization over the last 150 years or so, if we could do something as simple as cut off trade or otherwise demand concessions for trade to flow I can almost guarantee that the red states would learn to play nice. Either that or ban their pathetic politicians from stepping foot in blue states.

Also it may for them to become more functional over all, when fucking Idaho is one of the more functional and economically balanced red states ya done fucked up.

The last few months I’ve been going through all the different groceries, products, and services I buy regularly. Surprised to say, most of it was already from Europe, and a few things from otherwise friendly nations. The few things I buy regularly from the US or US owned European companies are easily replaced by competing products.

Although it is a small amount on a grand scale, it feels good to work on cutting off American companies completely and make them lose from a few hundred up to a thousand dollars in sales ever year. If enough of us do this over time they’ll lose millions in sales.

Yeah and people don’t have to do everything right away. Just change one service and delete accounts one by one. Request your data as per GDPR where possible and then close. Try to look at labels, chose American companies and products less and less. Don’t let perfection stop you from taking some action

Exactly! Taking groceries as an example, as something has been running out I’ve checked the label and if the company is American or US owned. Slowly, over time the few American groceries will be replaced in my house. Will I be unable to replace some products? Probably. But so far it hasn’t been a problem. Something is better than nothing, every lost sale will only hurt them in the long run.

The amount of Americans who have told me I should keep my opinions to myself about their politics is hilarious. They don’t see the hypocrisy in it. These people blew up half my country to keep Russia out of this continent and now their president is a Russian stooge. They have spent the last 50 years moralizing and telling every country on earth how to manage their affairs but now we have to keep our opinions to ourselves

US helped and encouraged Indonesian occupation of East Timor. I think that’s as close as we got to Australia, other than some military bases.

not as hypothetical as you’re thinking. much more already present, just not hopping waves into the mainstream. it’s just that who’s getting killed and jailed doesn’t have an international voice, so people like me gotta say how much danger there is in america right now, especially for queers, people with accents, and people with darker skin tones.

the thing to understand tho is that the cops and military are both simultaneously of us and against us. the people carrying out this genocide largely think that the people saying there’s a genocide are exaggerating. i guess what i would say, if you were Jewish in Germany in 1935, would you want international governments placing trade embargoes on Germany, or would you rather people abroad still buy the products your overlords made.

the other way to think of it. we’re boycotting a lot of companies right now for harming us. join us in the boycotts. just like we joined Ukraine in boycotting russian goods starting in 2013. we understand not everyone will be able to afford to participate, but our best bet is to give the corporations giving us fascism as many consequences as we can.

That’s my idea too. I’m no accelerationist, but Trump is already dousing the country with gasoline, so let’s light it up and get it over with. Trump was elected because Biden failed to improve the situation for most voters. The next Dem will win by a landslide as Trump makes life so much worse.

Maybe after that we’ll try someone third party and see if we can make the country better

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

The Framers appear to have adopted the requirement that citizens be natural born citizens to ensure that the President’s loyalties would lie strictly with the United States.

          Oh, the irony

By barring naturalized citizens from the presidency, the requirement of being a natural born citizen, as Justice Story explained, protects the United States from “ambitious foreigners, who might otherwise be intriguing for the office; and interposes a barrier against those corrupt interferences of foreign governments in executive elections, which have inflicted the most serious evils upon the elected monarchies of Europe.”

Honestly, it’s ridiculous. I don’t know why USA insists on “writing it’s own history from scratch”. As if there was nothing to learn from old Europa and the East. But all the pit-falls are being jumped into as if it’s never been done before. Ya’ll are basically speed-running a couple of thousand years of lessons already learned for no reason. I’m not criticizing, just bewildered at this point.

I guess it looks different on the outside looking in, but after you accept the fact that yes, about 25% of Americans are no more intelligent than a 3 year old, and having almost two centuries of corporate propaganda drilled into us, this all isnt entirely unpredictable.

Americans also won’t understand how Europe can do anything to impact the US. *We saved you guys in two world wars!"

Like toddlers, they need actual consistent rewards and consequences. They haven’t been getting that for a long time.
