I love LoK, honestly more than ATLA, for many reasons. Along those lines, I was more into ATLA for Zuko than the Gaang.

This is hard.

• Avatar: The Last Airbender + The Legend of Korra together. Don’t even get me started (actually please do).

• Pantheon. Dense, proper sci fi, criminally and tragically suppressed IRL. Watch it, right now.

• I am really loving Severance so far.

• Arcane is up there, maybe as most artistic.

• Star Wars: Andor. Not a huge Star Wars fan, but it’s so good, and grounded. It has everything.

I have a lot of “secondary” favorites I am excluding here, like The Expanse, Person of Interest, Fringe, The Americans, Narcos, Mythbusters, and such for various reasons, but are still amazing.

Fringe is so underrated.

Open source serving algorithms exist. They have the benefit of being customizable, not purely engagement driven.

If it integrates with the fediverse, it can be promoted on other platforms and doesn’t need critical mass.

That’s the advantage. All the platforms are trying to synergize, not steal from each other like the corporate apps.

So I bounce between 3 Trump states, and much of my family is glued to Facebook. Many don’t even know how to use a browser, just apps that serve them. Others religiously watch fox, a lot of cable opinion segments, things like that. I know a kid lost in Discord and YouTube.

Also, you should see the things pastors are saying in one of their churches, in spite of what the clergy have done…

I don’t know what it’s like overseas, but again, Americans seem totally consumed by social media, which is all just algorithmic propaganda that warps their world. And Trump/Musk are literally the top of that world.

It’s only getting worse.

That really is the root issue. No amount of protest, policy, empathy, anything is going to get through as long as people are immersed in these warped views of the world, and any political opposition is completely incapable of realizing that.

You are being downvoted, but you have a point. Not sure what the book said, but theoretically it would be advantageous to “gang up” on China and balance them out, instead of Russia increasingly becoming more dependent on China.

Theoretically, there’s a ton of mutually beneficial economic aid. Even better if the three powers get along.

That’s not the nature of authoritarian regimes though (and I am referring to all three countries now). There are just too many opportunities to take advantage of the other, even when it’s not rational, and there’s a long history from all three countries proving that.

Funny thing is SWTOR has some great art, heartfelt voice acting and quests, great soundtrack and such, but at the end of the day it’s buried in a grindy.

On the other hand, I tried Fallout 76 (after it was patched up) drunk with friends, and it was boring as heck. The quests were so dull, gameplay so arbitrarily janky and grindy. Drunk! With friends! Do you know how low a bar that is :/

Look at it this way:

Many (most?) defective GPUs ship that way, and fail early. If you buy used, it’s already lasted that long.

TBH operating systems are like tools, and if windows isn’t too intrusive and neutered, it can be OK.

I use Windows for gaming/media, for performance reasons, and (CachyOS) Linux for GPU compute stuff, dev work, office, pretty much anything else.

And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar begins anew.
