Family Finders is an organization directed at finding lost people and uniting families. The Martha Wayne Foundation also sponsors and runs dozens of soup kitchens within the city.
Isn’t it canon in some of the comic books that Gotham is legitimately cursed and it doesn’t matter how much charity and good works Wayne does, it’s just always going to be bad?
That and also rampant corruption. You can only do so much within the system when the system is rotten.
Fair, but ultimately also an excuse. He is the batman, he could beat the shit ouf of the entire political establishment and the corrupt big money paying them. Who else if not he, with his super advanced gadgets and tech? He could overcome the security systems and personnel those people employ better than anyone else in Gotham.
You’re cutting the head off the hydra at that point.
Yeah, that’s the plot of Batman.
Thanks for letting us know you’ve never read batman?
Yes
Democracy not a thing for ol batman?
A post completely misunderstanding Batman on Lemmy? Must be a day that ends in “y”.
It’s not just Lemmy but Reddit too, I have a feeling it must just be people who have only seen the movies. I’m not sure if the animated shows showed any of his philanthropy, but there are certainly examples of it throughout the comics.
I always wonder what social service is going to stop Darkseid etc.
There are plenty of superpower-through-techology heroes in DC, so a solid public education would probably do it.
If you’re working on a “Batman can stop Darkseid alone” theory, then it logically follows that any well-trained and equipped group could also stop Darkseid, probably better than Batman can. So the priority should be that.
Except in DC most groups can’t stop threats like Darkseid. There’s a reason the top group is the Justice League and a reason Batman is one of the founding members.
If you’re theory held, there should be all sorts of justice leagues etc.
The military, isn’t that what they’re for?
I’m pretty sure most of the time the Justice League saved the world it’s not because they were just giving the military a break.
Mass murdering, those are responsible for cutting public assistance. Programs is a legitimate superhero power don’t knock it.
If all of the billionaires around me were suddenly murdered, and a respectable public order came to replace them, I would be all for supporting that.
