I mean, the things aren’t arcane devices from a mythical age, they are pretty well documented if you wanted to build your own.

Certainly true, but then it is more an issue of what opinions they are fed than them not being a direct part of the conversations, no?
Fair, but ultimately also an excuse. He is the batman, he could beat the shit ouf of the entire political establishment and the corrupt big money paying them. Who else if not he, with his super advanced gadgets and tech? He could overcome the security systems and personnel those people employ better than anyone else in Gotham.
I dont like working out either
Perhaps this is a little pretentious but i don’t consider the cattle type of users, who will go where the most people are, like the most popular content, and generally follow along with the digital mainstream without much thought or personal agenda, valuable additions to online conversations. As far as I’m concerned they can stay wherever they are and if needed be fed some downstream summary of what the actual people talk about elsewhere.
What helped me and my phone habits was the loss of Apollo during the API fiasco, and the immediate emergence of voyager, allowing me to simply replace the “check reddit feed” habit with “check lemmy feed”.
Plus, since lemmy is less algorithms (and users) there isn’t much urge to doomscroll.
But why does it though? Because corporate sanitization efforts make them. A whole generation raised on social media language norms most definitely is doubleplusungood If you excuse the obvious reference. A shrinking vocabulary also eventually shrinks the thoughts people can articulate.
Weird that it was posted to the onion then
That also sounds like you might be depriving a university lecture hall of their square meters lol. 10k books, I dont think I’d have room for 100 even.
Because it doesn’t matter how good they are when they are confronted with a bunch of guys just as good except they are a meter taller and have a wing span like a fucking condor. Those will simply be better at the game.
Arguing this, I realized you could answer your question by replacing “average height men” with women and you know right away why.
I don’t “decide” on what others have to wear, the point is if you wear anime girl hoodies people will think you’re a massive weeb. If you dont like that, don’t wear that hoodie outside.
Guys in the comments: this is a cross post from the onion.
See the second half of my comment. Thats totally valid, you do you and whatever else you feel like expresses yourself, but that also gives people the freedom to judge you for how you present yourself. That is the whole point of appearances, evoking images and associations in other people’s minds.
I’d say it is less about not letting them enjoy their interest and more about wearing anime girls on their clothes. That just isn’t appropriate outside of maybe conventions and your own home, at least it is not perceived that way by most people.
Now you could argue that one shouldn’t give a fuck about what anyone thinks, and that’s valid, but misses the point.
In the app I use (voyager) there is a settings category to allow filtering words, users, communities or even instances from your feed.
I banished Elon, Musk, and Taylor. The word swift would have been good too but it’s not specific enough to her name.
Basically the first concerted spam/phishing attempt hitting lemmy, so this most certainly non existent lady is now a meme.
