  • I do this with stonework. My wife’s started doing it now too. When we first got together, we’d be on vacation and she’d point out what she thought was great stone work. Without being a dick about it I would automatically point out things that are super obvious to me, 15 years in the trade next summer. “That’s a structurally severe crack, that’s an obviously amateur patch, why the fuck that person was let anywhere near a restoration job is beyond me, that’s got another 5 years max until it could potentially fall and kill someone…” Etc etc etc.

Now our vacations tend to be us going from restaurant to attractions or whatever, and stopping along the way to criticise shoddy stone work.

  • I was hyped when I first heard about it. And with them dropping the shitty mechanic that was putting me off, I’ll definitely grab it at some point.

Looks like it’s 20% off right now, but reading through the recent(ish) reviews, it looks like it’s still in a state that I would likely find aggravating. Namely AI jank, and enemies spawning/despawning while in view.

That said, a positive review makes an excellent point:

    @Mango-killa

We bullied the devs into releasing the game early and are upset that it’s unfinished. I love the concept, but still needs a ton of polish and tweaks to be perfect. Give em time to cook.

It’s been on my wishlist, despite the now defunct water mechanic, since I heard about it. And I’ll give the Devs the time they need to cook.

    1. File size limits on the default instance are 20mb.

But it’s configurable right? Should be looking through configurations anyway.

    1. Its not federated.

I’d argue that not everything needs to be federated. Some things would definitely benefit from federation, but I’m not entirely sure that this is one of them.

    1. It’s not encrypted.

This IS a bit of a major negative. But point 2 and point 3 seems to be in conflict. I’m definitely not an expert, and don’t pretend to be. But to my limited, layman’s, knowledge wouldn’t being federated and encrypted not really work out? What would be the point in encrypting all communication between the server instance and client, to then federate it out to other servers?

I’m not trying to be contrarian here, I’m really asking, is that something that would:

    1. Work.
    2. Makes sense to do

Or is the lack of encryption a security risk for server operators? I’m not getting the point, obviously. And I’d like to know what your thinking on this is.

  • That’s a Skill Issue…git güd chump! /s

Definitely get that. Honestly think the difficulty scaling in the game is completely fucked. The first hour and a bit is just right. Everything after is pretty much a cakewalk, with occasional instances of having to replay a section repeatedly because all your equipment and skills that smeared everything into a red mist prior suddenly is like throwing pebbles at a BattleMech… That’s pretty much my only gripe with the game. Inconsistent difficulty.

  • I’d never gone and read anything Hitler had written. Maybe it’s partly the inherent inaccuracies introduced when translating something. Idk… whatever it was…that quote from Mein Kampf was absolutely insufferable. Not the topic, disgusting as it is. The…hmmm… slightly flowery, holier-than-thou-esque tone… patronising, like you’d speak to someone you think is really dumb. Which I guess probably was what was going on. Get the feeling Hitler thought he was a pretty smart cookie.
