I too was shocked that this method still exists, but if you read more into the circumstances, you’ll understand why. The guy basically had a choice between lethal injection, electric chair, or firing squad. With all the botched executions via lethal injection recently, getting shot was pretty much the quickest and least painful option. I’m not defending the dealth penalty or anything, just giving context why someone would choose death by firing squad.
The “no flex zone” song in the wingstop commercial that everyone who watches the NBA had to endure. Glad they finally changed it to Tommy Richman’s Million Dollar Baby.
The Boy and the Heron, Severance S02E08, and Apothecary Diaries.
I agree with you, truly. But in my scenario, riding a bicycle in third world traffic that is hostile to cyclists, at 33-35C and 100% humidity, and very polluted air, isn’t really ideal. Having said that, there is public transportation, which isn’t all too great, but at least it exists.
There’s a mention about a digg reboot at the bottom of the post
Digg is relaunching with one of the original reddit co-founders
Unfortunately people will see that first over the comments mentioning lemmy.
Yeah, but when it takes an hour to drive 4 kms, it gets old pretty quick.
Staying away from opinionated news outlets. News from outlets like Reuters or AP usually just deliver the news straight up.
I come from a third world country that is worse than the US in a lot of ways, but I don’t have to worry about getting shot by a rando with a gun.
I know FOIA doesn’t pertain to it, but it’s funny how the website mentions FOIA first thing while requiring you to sign up with your email to read the full article.
I’m sorry, but this exchange just made me bust out laughing.
I used to drive stick in one of the most dense cities and worst traffic on the planet. My left calf muscle is noticeably larger than my right. Manual is enjoyable and freeing, but at this point I prefer an automatic in urban areas with heavy traffic. The volume knob shifter is still weird though.
A more recent one: The Gorge. Good premise and setting, but it becomes bland when the mystery is unraveled.
That’s it! And I was off by 5 years lol.
There was this alien invasion B-movie like 10 years or so ago that I don’t remember the title of. But it was your typical main character and a couple of friends trying to find a way out of the city. Very generic. Then in the last 10-15 mins of the movie, he gets abducted and it gets far more interesting. But it ends there as a cliffhanger. I would’ve loved to see a version where that happens in the middle of the movie instead and we see more.
While I’m here collecting free swag at the vendor booths.
System1 specifically, which is also mentioned in the article you linked. Privacy Tools has also lost their reputation recently. Privacy Guides is more of the standard now. I know they cleared up their position, but ads and privacy together just doesn’t sit right with me. I’m just glad there’s an alternative.
Transmission. Simple, fast, efficient.
I used to listen to DT a lot, but I kinda stopped following them after Octavarium. Their latest release is honestly not really interesting to me. They’ve been kinda creatively stagnant for a while, even with Portnoy’e return. The songs just have the same repetitive formula and arrangements. Meanwhile newer bands like Haken (who are the most similar to DT in my opinion) have been making amazing music.
