The worst is when one of the two questions is an open problem.

Which is interesting, because when those guys were out of power, they complained about exactly that kind of government behaviour. They filled a lawsuit, and won an injunction.

It’s a wee bit more complicated:

• Executive orders created the DOGE service out of USDS, but also a separate “DOGE Temporary organization”.
• it’s not clear how the temporary organization is distinct from the old USDS, or if it even exists in fact (i.e. has it been staffed up at all?)
• The government seems to argue that many of the identified DOGE Team personnel are actually employed by the individual agencies they embed in under various titles and SGE authorizations.
• So if the DOGE Team members are not in the DOGE Service, and not in the temporary organization, how does the command and control work?
• Elon Musk is allegedly not affiliated with either of the DOGE organizations. He may or may not be a special government employee in a generic White House sub-office. He definitely, allegedly, doesn’t have any decision making authority. (But then, how come he talks about making a bunch of decisions on Xitter?)

Guy looks kinda like he’s wearing a jacket with a gap at the waist. That would totally not work. You can’t have a gap that lets air out. The Apollo suits were one piece designs; two piece with a hard shell locking waist ring came later.

We’re talking nowadays about compression suits that are only inflated around the head and maybe some upper body. Those would help a lot with mobility, but nothing like that has been deployed yet.

It’s not just lawmakers. There’s a bunch of lawsuits trying to use the federal courts to figure out:

• What is DOGE in the federal government?
• What is the nature of the “DOGE Temporary Organisation?”
• Who is in charge of DOGE? (Definitely not Musk, officially…)
• Why can DOGE make all these consequential personnel decisions up and down the federal government?

These are all things that have been shrouded in secrecy, obfuscation, and contradiction. Because the truth is that the real answers are not legally sound. The fact that these people are scared to say the real truth is a good sign, because it means they still have some fear of the courts and institutions. Those institutions still have some power to mess up the plan.

Look, when the King of Canada, or his Governor General, perform official acts for Canada, they use the Great Seal of Canada, not the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It’s totally different, I promise.

Canada at least has a “Governor-General” who is appointed by the British monarch.

Edit: like several other commonwealth states, Canada is a completely separate country from the United Kingdom. It just happens, by law, that King Charles III is the king of all of them.

NATO allies are expected to standardize their military equipment and processes to some extent, so they can interoperate with each other. This is why there’s NATO standard ammunition, and why the US military does a lot of stuff in metric.

One non-dirty-tricks reason to do this would be to give Ukraine ample time to get all that administrative stuff in order.

DC city government is fairly directly controlled by Congress. There’s not much of a firewall there. So I’m not really surprised.

Air is a compressible fluid. Water is incompressible. Energy from shock waves will be transmitted from the hull to the crew in a much more efficient fashion.
