Love the idea!
Love the idea!
I was thinking about this last night. In wars we often issue war bonds and people go around asking everyone to contribute what they can. Why not reinvent this but concepts including co-operatives, employee councils, kickstarter, social awareness, community awareness, inclusion of minorities and socially disadvantaged people, etc.
How about a technology investment bond, or a direct investment fund into new enterprises to build these up.
Shame the rich to invest into them instead but we know that won’t work so let’s all invest so we don’t have to rely on them.
I know it’s politically challenging but I would happily invest my pension pot into companies to improve our European tech in a socially aware and fair system, than the current US stock market it’s half made up of (I will change this!). Hell, just give grants to the open source community to develop things and let everyone in the world benefit
That’s a very good point and can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Surely the British army would have to protect “his majesty’s realm” or some bollocks like that.
I just read that Canada hosts Britain’s largest overseas base, although it seems to be for training purposes.
From the UK and personally, 100% yes but not sure I feel the rest of the population would agree. I mean, a lot of us turned our backs on the EU and there’s a lot of cross over with US right wing nutters.
However, I would believe that when push comes to shove, we would be generally willing to defend Canada, Australia and NZ over anyone else, and then European countries at the next level. The reaction in support for Ukraine was pretty universal here and there are still lots of donations and support that is not shared with any African, Asian or Central/South American countries having similar problems.
Basically, you’re white so yes you can count on us!
Exactly, especially jobs where you don’t have to directly interact with customers or management while doing it. I loved stock room work for the same reason
