Went for a beer with a bunch of people from my industry, organized on a Slack community on which a lot of the industry, globally, is on.
Few weeks later I lose my job due to KKR doing a rug pull. I write on Slack that I am on the job market and get 2 recruitment processes the same week.
During one of the two, I get offered a good salary, then I go to the last interview in the other one’s process, and I say how much I was offered, but the American salesman who is at the head of the department tells me that not coming with a client portfolio (I am not in sales AT ALL) he can only offer up to 10% less.
I get the other job and get good enough that I am going around speaking at conferences, and every time I meet the American in town I smirk at him.
