  • And yet there’s an incredibly high demand for playing old Nintendo games. When Nintendo occasionally sells emulated old games on newer consoles, they tend to sell pretty well. The NES and the SNES mini were much sought after and best-sellers.

So imagine if Nintendo offers the games in their entire retro library (that they are licensed to offer) with an official emulator for people to buy. That would evaporate the piracy of retro Nintendo games pretty quickly.

However, Nintendo doesn’t want that. They like completely manufactured, artificial scarcity. And so there’s piracy. A lot of piracy.

The amount of times I’ve heard salty right wing grifters complain about Orwellian censorship on literally everything. But I guess it’s just fine if cult leader Trump does it, because he stands for what’s right and sticks it to those progressive plebs, right?

NATO hasn’t “expanded” in a long time, until recently when Sweden and Finland decided to join. A decision that was made based on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So through Russia’s actions, two countries have decided to join an organisation that was made to opposed Russia.

Before that, no new members were accepted into NATO, even if they wanted to join, because NATO members weren’t really seeing the point of NATO anymore, and they didn’t see a reason to provoke Russia. That changed in 2014 when Russia invaded Ukraine for the first time, and annexed Crimea.

Last but not least; NATO doesn’t expand. It’s not a nation with borders that grow through conquest or subjugation. It is a defensive pact that the peolpe of a nation must vote on to join. And then the members of NATO must unanimously vote on letting the new country join. It is voluntary and democratic.

So instead of shoutong “NATO IS EXPANDING, GRRR!!”, why not ask yourself “why would Russia’s neighbouring countries want to join NATO?”

  • There are PLENTY of examples where violence wasn’t the answer. Those moments made gradual changes that didn’t have epic struggles with heroic figureheads, so they’re boring, they’re not obvious, and nobody talks about them.

There are a lot more examples in history where violence was used as a tool to oppress, threaten, conquer, destroy, or completely wipe out, by great and powerful entities.

Violence is sometimes the answer, if used by cool heads on specific targets with plans on what to do afterwards.
