I regularly get canned for not being far left enough actually. Despite being further left than easily 95% of people.
There’s the crux of the problem.
Who defines ‘left’?
I know for certain in US (who are mostly politically illiterate and use wrong terminology) the slightly less right wing Dem party for a great deal sees themselves as left or progressive.
Which they certainly aren’t .

You have the same phenomenon in EU where in many countries you have a socialist party, that is in no way socialist.
As an example the worst being the Labour party.
They follow the same center right route as most ‘acceptable’ parties. usually Liberal/Conservative that keep the status quo of more and more austerity, chipping away at social policy.
The “socialists” up tp a certain part get away with it by now and then throwing a bone to the public and shamelessly put on a show on the 1 may and scream the internationale.
Where they do what politicians do, lie and pretend to be the party for the people.
When things get worse, and there is nothing more to squeeze the commoners get angry and want to be heard.
Unfortunately mostly by voting extreme right. Others to what is called ‘extreme left’ the actual real socialists (evil commies, tankies!) who the status quo parties demonise even more than extreme right.
After all they are the real enemy, while fascism is simply ultracapitalism and is less of a problem and when necessary even will be embraced by the traditional parties.

Besides being pacified and dumbed down and unfamiliar with resistance, americans are also not able to think outside their narrow box.
Locked in their binary thinking.
As far as the world is concerned it doesn’t matter what ‘side’ of the same coin invades, bombs weddings, supports genocides or regime changes.
So yes, it’s the same.

I confidently claim he’s worse for 2 reasons: 1 he talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk.
I have no respect for people who don’t fight in an underhand manner.
2 Like I said, people like him are put there to project an image of progressiveness to hide the evil core doctrine of the corporate dem party.
Whitout those snakes at least more people would realise they are not alternative to Reps but more of the same corporate oligarchy politicians.
Which ironically leads you to your much heard defeatist claim that 3rd parties can’t work.
All this is completely incomprehensible to me (and other Europeans I presume) in a healthy democracy.
I’ve seen plenty parties start with 2% of votes and in a few elections get 10 to 40 or more.
Why do you think it’s dems that try to move heaven and earth to keep them off the ballots? They are a viable threat.
There’s plenty of base to start in the US, even if it’s a country with a terrible and pacified ‘please vote for the esser evil’ mindset.
You can lose with the 3rd party or lose anyway voting for dems.
