I’m depressed right now so that’s part of it. But I feel like I just exist, I just go through the motions in life. I do everything right (exercise, social functions, counselling etc) but it’s not a particularly enjoyable life.

Don’t try to live an enjoyable life. Try to live a meaningful life. Look for people you have a lot of respect for, and try to do what they do, or participate in their cause. Make some sort of progress, whatever that means for your circumstances.

    Relatable

I’m no longer in the same mental state as I was a couple years back (used to cut) but life is not that good right now still. Maybe it’s because most of my friends are back home while I’m out of state for work. Could also be the absolute cinema happening all around. I kinda just fill time up with work and gym, then turn my brain off during the weekends.

I don’t really have advice cause idk what I’m doing either, but hopefully I offered some solace. Best of luck

I have felt this at various levels and degrees many times. Including right now. Are you familiar with anhedonia?

Do something enjoyable then. I know that’s easier said than done, but list things that you’ve always wanted to do, and do as many as you can. If you need, lower your expectations, or budget, or whatever so that those goals are achievable.

Let me second this and emphasize the following:

      • do anything
      • do it whenever you have even the slightest impulse to do it
      • do it for as long as you want to, even if it seems like no time at all
      • do it for yourself

      … then stop.

Do what you want, then stop when you aren’t having fun. You can come back to these later when the impulse comes again.

This is great advice as long as you can find pleasure.

This has what’s gotten me through. I recommend that everyone have a creative outlet. The second-hand market is great.

Go on, it will get better. Do stuff for yourself. Don’t blame yourself.

But as to the question. Worse. Far worse. Will get better again. Had a very bad start of the week and neither work nor health are kind to me.

I’ve felt that my entire life, it feels like.

I just try to savor the moments of bliss, peace, or fun I come across and use them to help me through the drudgery. Eventually if you do things right you worm out a little comfortable niche.

Pretty much. I’m waiting till my life really starts, which is (i consider, at least) in four years. By then i’d have emigrated so i can get on with everything.

Life is incredibly dull for me, not necessarily sure what to do with myself.

I don’t have much advice sadly, but if it makes you feel better you aren’t alone. I think oka’s advice is pretty good, be sure to try that
